You can't argue religion with Davis and her friends. You can't win.
However, She cannot expect the citizens of her county, including ANY citizen who qualifies for a marriage license, to support her religious activities. That is practicing religion on the public dime. She serves the community, not her church. Its the community who is paying for the services her office provides. If a gay couple qualifies for a marriage license, she is legally bound to issue it.
Morally, to take money and not provide the service is fraud. Theft. Isn't there some sort of rule or commandment about that?
But you know, County Clerk is a good job in a rural community. Nice pay check, and if you can get paid for not doing your duties....then that's a pretty good gig. In any other situation, the County Commission (if it had the balls) would have impeached her. Certainly they didn't and won't spend any public funds defending her.
